Set the sails for all points north

Our time in Copenhagen has finished, and our thoughts turn to the sea and boats and life on the ocean waves. This city takes you to her heart, and I am quite sad to be leaving so soon, but as it is at the heart of the northern European area, hopefully we will return one day.
We will sail out in the evening, but it is daylight till so late, it is not into the proverbial sunset - jetlag has kicked in very nicely and I am still welcoming the morning at around 4.00 - also in bright daylight - it is going to be quite an experience as we sail further north. Midsummer evening is being celebrated in Denmark tonight - with many festivities - it is worth celebrating as the winters are so cold and long.
The sea beckons, and so to bags that need to be contained so...

When night is day, and thoughts turn to stories

I woke at 4, and it was daylight - and beautiful, the city was still asleep but I was awake and out the window a snow white swan glided down the canal outside our hotel window - I wondered why it was also not sleeping - perhaps searching for food, a mate, or just enjoying the solitude before the cruise barges parade the tourists around this postcard pretty city. One can see how this lace has inspired so many stories and songs, and writings. As this trip progresses, there could be more on the question of day and night - and where it all starts. The land of the midnight sun beckons.
Exploring Copenhagen is easy - it is flat, and even with streets with extraordinarily long names, you are able to get around. The main thing is to keep to the footpaths - cyclists have their own lanes between the road and path - woe betide you if you step into their territory. We saw the royal yacht and the Queen leaving on a tour - this country dearly loves their royal family - . The Queen even left with her little royal dog - who seemed very at home with people and attention.

It is sometimes the simple things that mean a lot, and after a few months minus bananas, it is my treat for breakfast. Apologies to those still missing them.
Well, we are off to explore more and exchange the odd word in Danish, it is all part of the travel experience, and hopefully they dont wince too much at the Australian effort at just a few words - it is beautiful language when spoken (just very hard to learn!)

Across the world to beautiful Copenhagen

The trip gets longer, I am sure, but after a very hot transit in Doha, 35 at 6.00 in the morning, we arrived, a little jetlagged and happy to be on firm ground. The trip across the Middle East is amazing - so barren and inhospitable, yet the sad stories of some of those countries and peoples has so much impact on the rest of the world - you see how global impacts are becoming greater in all political and social arenas.
Copenhagen is a lovely as ususal - quite mild, and cloudy. I must confess to giving in to sleep early evening and after eight hours sleep feel almost human again, (and almost look that too - I hate to think what I looked like getting off after 22 hours!
Off exploring and meeting friends, and getting to reacquaint with the streets of this pretty city
